It has been known for a long time that it is the lack of movement that is the main cause of cardiovascular diseases so common today. A sedentary lifestyle, a small amount of free time, a day filled with work primarily means that heart disease is still the forerunner in the list of civilization diseases, becoming at the same time a serious cause of a huge number of deaths both in Poland and in the world. Are there any ways to change our habits, abnormal habits and minimize coronary artery disease? The answer seems very simple, but it is much more difficult to implement these teachings. Physical activity is one of the best ways for a long youth of our heart.
The name itself indicates that cardio training is about the heart. People who suffer from cardiovascular disease are advised to do endurance sports, but not strength sports. At each gym, we find a separate area for cardio machines, where you can exercise your fitness and endurance without worrying, slowly improving your condition
In addition to the gym and fitness clubs, you can also train strengthening the heart. For example, I am talking about a walk in the woods or in the park, swimming and, for example, riding a bicycle. Recently, nordic walking, a walk with poles, became extremely popular. Thanks to such attributes it is possible to overcome very long distances without much effort. The mentioned sport is therefore recommended especially to the elderly and those who want to get rid of excess body fat and can not use harder exercises due to the load on the joints.
Effects of exercises on our heart
The heart is a specific organ that never rests. The basis of his existence is therefore continuous and uninterrupted work. However, it is still a muscle, and it is well-known that muscles should be exercised. Thanks to physical exercises, our heart becomes stronger, bigger and more efficient. It is the regular physical training that makes the heart pump larger amounts of blood, and thus is more efficient.
Athletes at rest usually have a lower pulse, because their heart is slower and pumping more. As you can guess, this optimal work is more economical. We can give our hearts a breathing space. What happens next? The circulatory system begins to grow. New blood vessels appear, and blood is much rarer and with more red blood cells. Its transport is thus facilitated, and oxygen gets more quickly and sensibly to all cells of the body.
Movement is the health of the body
Regular activity also affects your well-being. We get rid of bad emotions, relax. The blood pressure level is also stabilized, the sugar falls and the sensitivity to insulin increases. Movement is a natural battle against bad LDL cholesterol, and thanks to it, good cholesterol starts to reach the first position. So you do not need to ingest chemicals to neutralize LDL. The heart, or our muscle, simply has to be subjected to intense burdens to improve its work. Of course, the effort should be proportional and introduced gradually, especially in the case of people who have cardiovascular disease or are having heart attacks. However, nothing can replace the movement that is always very desirable.
Sports for people with cardiovascular disease
Anyone suffering from cardiovascular disease, such as hypertension, lipid disorders or post-infarction, should contact their doctor, who will give them instructions on whether and how to safely play sports. However, if we have never tested our pressure, we do not know if we have coronary heart disease or any symptoms, illnesses or pains, we can not do physical exercises without consulting our doctor first. Before training, it is also worth measuring the level of blood pressure and heart rate. If it reaches a worrying level, we can not participate in the training. The dangerous level is 140/90 mmHg, and the heart rate is 90 beats per minute.
The recommended activities for people suffering from heart disease are, for example, walks, the already mentioned Nordic walking or swimming, pilates, yoga, marches, aerobic exercises.
However, patients should avoid physical exercise, lifting weights not only in the gym, but also in everyday activities, at home or at work. It is also not recommended to practice sports related to increasing adrenaline, so-called extreme sports. It is better to bet on daily, but not very intense physical training.
The heart needs a lot of movement for its correct and impeccable work. It should be guaranteed to him, and thus it will pump blood efficiently every day, supplying oxygen to all cells of the body. Oxygen and nutrients are our source of life, and a pump called the heart is a muscle that needs to be exercised – it contributes to its growth, strength and endurance.
