Aloe – health properties 

Aloe belongs to the family of succulents. It is a large group of plants, covering over 500 species. Among her the most common is aloe vera (Aloe vera), which comes from the areas of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, its appearance resembles a cactus. Can be achieved up to 80 cm in height. 

What is hidden in aloe? More than we could think! Although fleshy aloe leaves are 99% water-based, it is rich in valuable vitamins and minerals, so that aloe can really be called a medicinal plant. We find in it vitamins from the group B, vitamins C and A, potassium, magnesium, iron, chromium, copper, organic acids (cinnamon, amber, salicylic), glycoproteins (aloectin) and other biologically active compounds. In addition, it contains valuable chemical compounds, such as, for example, choline (vitamin B4). Choline protects min. liver against damage caused by alcohol and other toxins, is essential for the structural integrity of cell membranes – affects the biosynthesis of lecithin. In addition, choline affects the normal development of the nervous system of the fetus, when the pathway of vitamin B9 (folic acid) does not work properly due to eg polymorphism of the MTHFR gene. Aloe juice will certainly work well in people who experience a feeling of overeating. Already one glass can help regulate the work of organs responsible for digestion, and additionally stimulates the appetite by the production of gastric juice, has a bile-producing and choleretic effect, also reduces the feeling of heaviness. Aloe juice is also recommended for people who suffer from indigestion and ulcers. Aloe juice for some people may have a slight laxative effect. 

Aloe also has important anti-inflammatory properties. These were used in antiquity, and today you can also see the tendency to use the aloe’s soothing effects in cosmetics. It is worth knowing that aloe can be applied directly to wounds and sunburns to reduce swelling and redness. Aloe supports the production of collagen, thus accelerating skin renewal. Used internally, it also affects the circulatory system, dilating capillaries, which also affects faster healing. 

Aloe moisturises wonderfully – both externally and internally. All thanks to the high content of water rich in vitamins and minerals. It is worth using aloe gel on the skin and prophylactically drink a glass of juice. It is also good to have an aloe gel at home in the spring and summer, when insects appear. In a situation when an insect stings us, we can rub the place with gel to reduce swelling and relieve pain or itching. 

Helpful in slimming 

Aloe juice is also worth using if you want to lose a few kilos. This is because it has an alkaline effect, thanks to which it detoxifies the body. In addition, it cleans the intestines of toxins and reduces the appetite for sweet. So if you want to have cookies near the afternoon tea, reach for a glass of aloe juice. It is low calorie, and it will provide your body with many valuable chemicals. In addition, aloe vera also regulates the level of glucose in the blood, which is also useful for slimming – if glucose does not increase rapidly, then we will not feel hunger attacks. 

Cosmetic aloe 

Aloe vera in cosmetics has a really versatile effect. Its moisturizing properties are used not only by the manufacturers of body lotions, but also nutrients and hair masks. Aloe leaves hair soft and deeply moisturized, so if you are going on vacation and do not want to take ten bottles of cosmetics with you, instead of a conditioner, apply a little gel of aloe to your hair. It will protect your hair against electrifying and desiccation from the sun. 

Aloe juice – how to make and eat? 

Of course, ready aloe juice can be bought in pharmacies, herbal stores, or in health food stores, but if we have 2-4 year old aloe in the house and we want to make a natural aloe juice ourselves, it’s not difficult. How to do it? Remember that aloe juice can be drunk or used externally on the skin. 

First recipe 

Aloe juice. Remove 2-3 leaves from the healthy plant, remove the side spines and rinse the leaves with water. Divide each leaf lengthwise into two parts, then pry the skin off and remove it with your fingers or gently peel the leaf with a knife (so that the least pulp remains on the skin), place the pulp in a bowl and sprinkle with bio-lemon juice. Zblendować. Pour the ready juice into a dark glass bottle, screw it tightly and place it in the fridge. Store a maximum of 10 days. Drink diluted in proportion to a glass of water 2 tablespoons of aloe juice. 

Second recipe 

Aloe juice with honey. 100 ml of aloe juice (from recipe 1) combine with 200 ml of honey. Pour into a dark glass bottle, screw it tightly and place it in the fridge. Store a maximum of 10 days. Aloe juice with honey to consume 2-3 times a day on a teaspoon 

However, there are some contraindications in the use of aloe juice. People who are allergic to eg onions or garlic may also be allergic to aloe vera – this sensation may be manifested by rash and / or other changes on the skin. Aloe juice should not be taken by pregnant women (may cause uterine contractions) or breastfeeding women. Aloe vera is not suitable for children – a medical consultation is needed here. People who suffer from intestinal inflammation and the elderly with intestinal obstruction should also consume aloe juice, due to its laxative and irritating effect of aloe.
