Pomelo – nutritional properties. What vitamins and minerals is rich pomelos?

Pomelo is the biggest fruit of the citrus family, but it is not only the size of citrus fruits, but also the richness of vitamins and other nutrients, especially vitamin C, which has more than a deceptively similar grapefruit and the lemon known for this vitamin. It’s strange that pomelo has many healthy properties.

Pomelo, called the giant orange, is the largest representative of citrus fruits – it can reach up to 25 cm in diameter and 2 kg of weight, while the spongy skin with yellow, yellow-green or pink color can reach up to 5 cm thick, which is why pomelo looks like grapefruit. This is not surprising – in the end, when the pomelo and Chinese orange were crossed, the pomelo was sweeter, less sour and unfortunately less aromatic and juicy than the grapefruit pulp. The pulp may be white, green or red, with the most valuable nutrients for health are found in this white one.

Pomelo strengthens the immune system

Pomelo is the richest citrus fruit in vitamin C (about 61 mg / 100 g.) This strengthening immune system has more vitamin in it than in orange (about 50 mg / 100 g), and even in a deceptively similar grapefruit ( about 34/100 g.) In terms of its content, pomelo does not disappear even the lemon citrus fruit widely considered the richest source of vitamin C (about 53 mg / 100 g).

Pomelo weighs an average of 600-700 g, which means that already 1/6 of this delicious fruit covers almost 100% of the daily requirement for vitamin C (ie approx. 70 mg).
